Your new role

As a Hardware Design Engineer at PAL-V, you are responsible for the design, development, and validation of electrical and electronic hardware for our innovative FlyDrive solution. You contribute to the full development cycle, from schematics and component selection to testing, validation, and vehicle integration, ensuring robust designs that meet automotive and aviation standards.

Tasks and responsibilites

In this role, you design electrical systems such as power, lighting, sensors, and ECUs, including schematics, component selection, and technical specifications. You develop and execute test plans covering functional, environmental, and EMC testing, and you troubleshoot issues during prototyping. You also support industrialization and production by applying DFM/DFA principles and resolving manufacturing and integration challenges. In addition, you collaborate closely with internal teams and external partners, lead technical design reviews, and coach junior engineers. Finally, you contribute to continuous improvement initiatives with a strong focus on safety, reliability, and engineering excellence.

Your profile

You hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (HBO/WO) in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related field and bring at least 7+ years of experience in hardware design and development, preferably within automotive, aerospace, or high-tech environments. You have strong expertise in schematic design, component selection, and PCB design flows, and are experienced with ECAD tools such as Altium, Zuken, or similar platforms. You understand EMC/EMI principles, grounding, and signal integrity, and are familiar with functional safety standards (such as ARP4761) and system validation practices. Knowledge of DO-160 is considered a plus. You have a hands-on, collaborative, and solution-oriented mindset and are fluent in English, both written and spoken.
