Cockpit overview of your role

The Electrical System Architect – DA Systems Owner within PAL-V’s design organization holds a hands-on, senior technical leadership role in the field of electrical engineering, with responsibility for both hardware and embedded software architecture, certification, and system management for Design Assurance (DA) systems.

This role focuses on managing and directing the lifecycle of electrical systems for safety-critical and certification-critical systems (e.g., electrical power systems, main power units, and other Development Assurance (DA) systems), ensuring that requirements, architecture, verification, and compliance activities are carried out in accordance with aviation standards and regulatory expectations.

The Electrical System Architect serves as a bridge between system engineering, hardware/software development, and certification. The role is responsible for defining and maintaining the electrical system architecture, ensuring design and compliance outcomes, coordinating verification strategies, and ensuring end-to-end traceability from requirements through implementation and validation.

The role reports directly to the Electrical Systems Group Lead and works closely with project team leaders, system, hardware, software, and mechanical engineers, as well as suppliers and certification stakeholders.

This is what you'll navigate

In this role, you will take full technical ownership of design assurance for electrical systems and serve as the primary point of contact for system-level decisions, technical coordination, and accountability. You will define and maintain the electrical and embedded system architecture, including power distribution, control electronics, embedded software, and the interfaces with mechanical and vehicle systems. In doing so, you will ensure that the design complies with certification requirements such as DO-178C, DO-254, ARP4754B, and the relevant EASA/FAA frameworks.

You will oversee the documentation of requirements and traceability according to the V-model, manage system interfaces via well-maintained ICDs, and lead technical design reviews such as PDR, IDR, and CDR to ensure design maturity and regulatory compliance. In addition, you coordinate safety and risk analyses (such as FHA, FMEA, SSA, and DAL allocation) and, together with hardware and software teams, define the verification and test strategy, including means of compliance and test infrastructure.

Finally, you will support program planning by providing technical estimates and impact analyses, contribute to structured engineering processes and repositories, and provide technical leadership by coaching engineers and promoting strong system ownership, documentation discipline, and certification-aware engineering practices within the team.

What makes you a great fit

You hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a comparable technical field. In addition, you have at least 8 years of relevant work experience in the development of electrical and embedded systems within the aviation industry. Experience in other safety-critical, highly regulated sectors is a valuable asset, but a demonstrable background in aviation is a requirement for this role.

You communicate clearly and coherently on complex technical topics and possess strong written and verbal communication skills in English. This enables you to collaborate effectively in an international, multidisciplinary environment and play an active role in technical coordination and decision-making.
