Lead Design Engineer
The position
We are looking for an experienced Lead Design Engineer to join our innovative team. At PAL-V, our design organisation is dedicated to the ongoing development, flight testing, certification, and continued airworthiness of our FlyDrive solution, including their components and subsystems. Our development projects are executed by various project teams, each focusing specifically on a vehicle system or test organization. The Lead Design Engineer plays a crucial role in all stages of developing our FlyDrive mobility solution. This position reports hierarchically and operationally to the Project Team Lead and technically to the review team. You will collaborate within various project teams, each concentrating on specific vehicle systems.
Your future job
Tasks and responsibilities
- Taking ownership over (complex) subsystems for its entire design life cycle up to certification.
- Designing and further developing existing systems; such as the power plant, primary structure or electronics (dependent on your field of expertise).
- Lead impact assessments across multiple systems as part of the change process.
- Actively identify technical and project risks early in the development process and propose effective mitigation strategies
- Proposing verification and validation strategies and generating design substantiation (analyses and/or complex test setups)
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of the product and the organisation.
- Be in contact with suppliers if necessary.
Softwareskills
- Experience with CAD, FMEA, FEM (dependent on your field of expertise).
- Experience in compliance demonstration and/or certification is preferred.
- High independence, initiative, and taking responsibility.
- Support the development of fellow engineers and promote a hands-on, responsible approach to engineering within the team.
Your profile
- You have a Bachelor's or Master degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Automotive Engineering, or equivalent.
- You have more than 5 years of work experience.
- You possess strong written and spoken communication skills in English.
