The position

As a R&D Hardware Lead Engineer, you are responsible for the design, development, and validation of electrical and electronic hardware components used in our revolutionary FlyDrive solution. You will play a key role in shaping system architectures, selecting components, and ensuring robust electrical designs that comply with safety, automotive, and aviation standards.

Your future job

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Electrical Design & Engineering: Design electrical schematics for vehicle systems (e.g., power, lighting, sensors, ECUs), select components, define specifications, and support implementation with internal and external partners.
  • Testing & Validation: Develop and execute test plans (functional, environmental, EMC), troubleshoot issues during prototyping, and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards (e.g., ISO 26262, EASA/CS).
  • Production Support: Support hardware industrialization (DFM/DFA), resolve issues during manufacturing and integration, and maintain documentation for certification and PLM systems.
  • Leadership & Mentorship: Coach junior engineers, lead design reviews, coordinate with suppliers, and promote best practices within the team.
  • Continuous Improvement & Safety: Identify opportunities for architectural optimization and cost reduction, improve tools and methods, and foster a culture of safety, reliability, and engineering excellence.

Your profile

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (HBO/WO) in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in hardware design and development (automotive, aerospace, or high-tech preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of schematic design, component selection, and PCB design flows.
  • Experience with tools like Altium, Zuken or similar ECAD platforms.
  • Understanding of EMC/EMI principles, grounding, and signal integrity.
  • Familiarity with functional safety (ISO 26262) and system validation practices.
  • Hands-on, collaborative, and solution-oriented mindset.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
