FLYING CAR MANUFACTURER PAL-V AIMS HIGH IN A PARTNERSHIP WITH ANTEA GROUP TO PLAN MODERN MOBILITY SOLUTIONS FOR CITIES
Intra urban commuting is changing and PAL-V has teamed up with Antea to assist communities in transitioning to a new era of transportation that
involves flying cars.
At the Geneva International Motor Show, PAL-V signed an MOU with consultancy and engineering firm Antea Group. Together with PAL-V, Antea Group will support local governments to prepare and implement the next steps in flying mobility: planning and designing additional small airstrips where the PAL-V can land. Antea Group specializes in urban planning and infrastructure and has offices in Europe, North and South America, Africa and Asia. “Although there is already abundant infrastructure to support the PAL-V, with this partnership we can now assist additional cities to prepare for the next step in mobility and even further increase the efficiency of the PAL-V”: said Robert Dingemanse, CEO for PAL-V. In 2050, 68% of the people will live in urban areas, cities need to be prepared for the increasing number of people that commute to cities. “Offering these cities to already prepare a landingstrip for the PAL-V, allows people to travel more easily to and from the city. People could even live further away from the city while keeping the same commute time.”: said Henri Deelstra from Antea Group.
Grass airstrips will mostly be created in close proximity to urban areas where people are not disturbed by the presence of the airstrip. PAL-V can drive the last mile to the destination, making the PAL-V a true door-to-door solution for the city-to-city market. The PAL-V runs on regular car fuel and people can park it in their own garage. No need fora hangar or fuel station at the airstrip, which makes organizing an airstrip a lot easier and less expensive.
The PAL-V can reach a landing strip near a city 400km away in just 2.5 hours, after that the conversion only takes 5 minutes and you can drive your last miles into the city, which makes traveling long distances not only faster but also a lot more fun.
In the future PAL-V will collaborate with Antea Group to open the urban flying market enabling platform-to-platform flying inside a city. However, this will first require a new set of regulations and a number of technology breakthroughs; especially regarding battery weight and traffic management.
